Delhi’s newly appointed Chief Minister Atishi found herself at the center of controversy on Monday, as both BJP and Congress leaders criticized her decision to not sit in the chair used by her predecessor, Arvind Kejriwal. Her gesture was deemed by opposing factions as a 'grave insult' to constitutional rules and the chief ministerial post.

Atishi, acknowledging the temporary nature of her role reminiscent of Ramayana's Bharat who ruled in Lord Ram's absence, chose to sit in a white chair beside Kejriwal's chair. She emphasized this symbolic act, asserting her commitment to serve with integrity during her four-month tenure. Nevertheless, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva and Congress chief Devender Yadav labeled her a 'dummy' chief minister, questioning her legitimacy.

MP Manoj Tiwari further sparked the debate, accusing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of disrespecting the Constitution by presenting Atishi as a 'puppet CM.' Despite these strong reactions, Atishi remained resolute, concluding with hopes for Kejriwal’s return, while attributing the controversies to political machinations aimed at besmirching Kejriwal's reputation.
