Former Union minister Sharad Pawar on Monday confirmed that he and his nephew, Ajit Pawar, maintain familial unity but stressed their political divergence. Speaking at a press conference in Chiplun, Pawar addressed speculations surrounding Ajit Pawar's position in the state government led by Eknath Shinde.
Responding to calls for the uncle-nephew duo to reunite politically, Pawar remarked that Ajit heads a different political party, implying independent political trajectories for both. He dismissed the need to comment on Ajit's political decisions, including his wife's participation in Lok Sabha elections.
Pawar reiterated the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance's objective to offer a progressive alternative in Maharashtra, underscoring the public's readiness for a new leadership. He also addressed unrelated claims by Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu regarding sub-standard ghee in Tirupati temple prasad.
