An Election Commission team, headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar, arrived in Jharkhand on Monday to review preparations for the forthcoming assembly elections, according to an official statement.
During their two-day visit, the team will conduct a series of meetings with political parties, enforcement agencies, and government officials to assess the state’s preparedness.
'Four meetings are scheduled on Monday. The poll panel will discuss matters with representatives from nine political parties, including six national and three regional parties, as well as senior government and police officials,' stated Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar.
On Tuesday, the team will interact with district election officers, superintendents of police, inspector generals, and deputy inspector generals.
The discussions aim to gauge the status of poll preparedness, law and order, and other election-related issues, Kumar noted.
Assembly elections in Jharkhand are scheduled for later this year. In 2019, elections for the 81 assembly seats were held in five phases from November 30 to December 20, with results announced on December 23. This year, the polls are expected to take place in two to three phases, according to EC sources.
