Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted a credibility crisis as a paramount challenge for Indian politics during a rally on Sunday. His remarks particularly targeted National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah for contesting Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections despite prior indications to abstain until statehood was restored.
Abdullah, a former chief minister, is running for assembly segments in Ganderbal and Budgam. Posters questioning his change of heart have surfaced along the Jammu-Airport road. Singh expressed disappointment over the perceived inconsistency, stating Abdullah owed an apology to the public.
Singh reaffirmed BJP's dedication to credibility, pointing to its manifesto and fulfilling promises, including the revocation of Article 370. He questioned how opposing parties would restore statehood without central government control, emphasizing that any restoration would come through BJP governance.
