In a significant escalation of hostilities, the Israeli military reports that more than 100 rockets have been fired from Lebanon into the country, with some projectiles landing near the northern city of Haifa.
According to Israeli first responders, the early morning barrage on Sunday resulted in injuries to at least three people near Haifa, inflicted damage on buildings, and set several cars ablaze.
This latest attack follows an Israeli airstrike in Beirut that killed at least 37 people, including a senior leader of a Lebanese militant group, along with women and children. The militants were already coping with the fallout from a sophisticated attack involving thousands of explosive devices just days earlier. The ongoing exchange of fire, which began nearly a year ago after the war in Gaza, has steadily intensified, raising fears of an impending all-out war.
