Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met US President Joe Biden on the margins of the Quad summit in Greenville, Delaware, discussing a range of issues, including the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

'A special start to a significant visit. @POTUS @JoeBiden warmly received PM @narendramodi at his residence in Greenville, Delaware,' the Prime Minister's Office said in a post on X.

The meeting focused on reviewing and identifying new pathways to further deepen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

Modi was accompanied by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and Ambassador of India to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra. The US delegation included Secretary of State Antony Blinken, NSA Jake Sullivan, and Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti.

Biden welcomed Modi at his residence, where the two leaders shared a warm embrace and Biden held Modi's hand as they entered the house.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan indicated that the Ukraine war and Modi's recent visit to Kyiv were expected to feature prominently in their discussions.

'My meeting with President Biden will allow us to review and identify new pathways to further deepen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for the benefit of our people and the global good,' Modi had said in his departure statement.

Modi, on a three-day visit to the US, will also hold separate bilateral meetings with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida for the Quad Summit, aimed at boosting cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and exploring peaceful solutions to conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.

The Quad leaders are set to unveil an initiative to address cancer's impact on patients and their families.

In Philadelphia, Modi received an energetic welcome from a large group of the Indian diaspora. He greeted them, signed autographs, and shook hands.

Modi expressed appreciation for the Indian community in the USA, recognizing their positive impact across diverse sectors. He will attend an Indian community event in Long Island and address the 'Summit of the Future' at the UN General Assembly.
