Kamala Harris Challenges Trump to Pre-Election Debate
U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has accepted CNN's invitation to participate in an October 23 debate and is urging her Republican rival Donald Trump to join. Their first debate was held on September 10 with polls favoring Harris. Trump previously announced no further debates with Harris before the November election.
U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has agreed to take part in a debate hosted by CNN on October 23, her campaign announced on Saturday. Harris is urging her Republican rival, Donald Trump, to also participate just weeks ahead of the November 5 presidential election.
Jen O'Malley Dillon, chair of the Harris campaign, stated, 'Vice President Harris is ready for another opportunity to share a stage with Donald Trump, and she has accepted CNN's invitation to a debate. Donald Trump should have no problem agreeing to this debate.' The Trump campaign has yet to respond.
Harris and Trump first debated on September 10, in a contest where polls indicated Harris emerged victorious. Trump declared last week on his social media platform, Truth Social, that he will not participate in another debate before the election. Meanwhile, President Joe Biden debated Trump in June but later withdrew from the race, prompting discussions among Democrats about the party's future leadership.
