Jammu and Kashmir has experienced significant losses, including statehood, identity, and land rights, over the past ten years under BJP governance, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah asserted on Saturday. He questioned the BJP's pledges of eradicating terrorism from the region.
Abdullah specifically targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah, demanding an explanation for the BJP's contradictory stance of blaming NC and Congress for terrorism in J-K while attributing it to Pakistan elsewhere in the country. Abdullah also expressed displeasure at the BJP's failure to fulfill promises made following the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, which revoked J-K's special status and divided it into two Union territories.
Speaking at an election rally for party candidate Aijaz Ahmad Jan in Poonch-Haveli, Abdullah emphasized that the past ten years have stripped J-K of its rights and identity. He further criticized the degradation of basic amenities and questioned the BJP's false claims of ending terrorism, emphasizing the continuing struggles faced by the people of J-K. He pledged that an NC-Congress coalition would restore peace and resolve pressing issues in the region.
