Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday departed for New York to represent Pakistan at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly scheduled for next week.

Sharing his plans in a social media post, the prime minister assured that he would present Pakistan's perspective on pressing global issues at the prominent international forum.

'Looking forward to a busy week full of engagements. During our interactions we will take up global issues, promoting peace, development, and climate action. Will present Pakistan's perspective to the world, advocate our interests and strengthen international partnerships,' he stated.

A Foreign Office statement revealed that in his address to the UN General Assembly, the PM would reaffirm Pakistan's unwavering commitment to multilateralism and support for the United Nations in promoting global peace, security, and prosperity.

The prime minister's agenda also includes participation in several high-level sideline meetings such as the 'High-Level Meeting on Existential Threat posed by Sea-level Rise' and the UN Security Council's open debate on 'Leadership for Peace'.

Additionally, his schedule features bilateral discussions with global leaders as well as meetings with the UN secretary-general and the president of the UN General Assembly, along with interactions with the Pakistani diaspora.
