The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has urged the Central government to swiftly approve a special relief package for the victims of last month's unprecedented floods in the northeastern state.
The floods led to 36 fatalities and forced 1.29 lakh residents into relief camps, severely impacting crops, livelihoods, and infrastructure. TPCC President Asish Kumar Saha voiced these concerns at a press conference, criticizing the delay in the Central government's response.
Saha emphasized that the Congress party is demanding the state be declared a national disaster area, highlighting that no significant action has been taken yet. He warned that the TPCC would resort to protests if immediate assistance is not provided.
