Ashwani Kumar Highlights Importance of Upcoming Assembly Polls

Former Union law minister Ashwani Kumar on Saturday underlined the importance of the forthcoming assembly elections, stating that the results would set the stage for a realignment of political forces.

He added that with the 'one nation, one election' initiative gaining momentum, the BJP would look to garner the necessary support in Parliament to pass several constitutional amendments to make this a reality.

Kumar asserted that the approaching state assembly elections hold special significance due to the evolving political dynamics and will reflect the national political mood. He noted that the results from Haryana and Maharashtra, where the BJP faces a stiff challenge from the Congress-led INDIA bloc, will indicate the BJP's current standing among the electorate.

Kumar mentioned the Congress's strategic approach in Haryana, highlighting Bhupinder Singh Hooda's prominent role in the campaign. The presence of the party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Hooda at campaign events signals Hooda as the chief ministerial candidate if Congress wins. Assembly elections in various states, such as Haryana, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra, are set to take place soon, with polls in Jammu and Kashmir already underway.
