A Maharashtra Congress delegation confronted Governor CP Radhakrishnan on Saturday, arguing that the state's law and order situation is deteriorating and demanding the arrest of ruling alliance leaders who have threatened Rahul Gandhi.

The group, led by state unit head Nana Patole, leader of opposition in the assembly Vijay Wadettiwar, Congress Legislature Party leader Balasaheb Thorat, former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, and Mumbai Congress head Varsha Gaikwad, emphasized Gandhi's safety was at risk. They criticized the lack of action against MLA Sanjay Gaikwad and Rajya Sabha MP Anil Bonde.

In addition to addressing Gandhi's threats, the delegation urged immediate relief for farmers whose crops, spanning over 6 lakh hectares, were ravaged by heavy rains. They pointed out that while Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan toured other states post-rain damages, Maharashtra was neglected. The memorandum also alleged deteriorating public safety, citing recent incidents, and requested urgent intervention from the governor to instruct the Shinde government for prompt action.
