Atishi, accompanied by prominent AAP leaders, met with former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday ahead of her swearing-in ceremony.
Earlier in the week, Atishi was selected as the leader of the legislature party after Kejriwal unexpectedly announced his resignation. He stated that he would only return to the post if given a 'certificate of honesty' by the people of Delhi in the upcoming assembly polls expected early next year.
Among those visiting Kejriwal's residence in Civil Lines with Atishi were Gopal Rai, Imran Hussain, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and first-time MLA Mukesh Ahlawat, who will join Atishi's cabinet. The swearing-in ceremony, scheduled for 4.30 pm, will be overseen by Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena at Raj Niwas.
According to an AAP leader, the ceremony will be low-key due to Kejriwal's resignation and delays in approvals that left little time for preparation. On Friday evening, officials at the Lieutenant Governor's office announced that President Droupadi Murmu had appointed Atishi as Chief Minister of Delhi and accepted Kejriwal's resignation.
