The Congress on Wednesday alleged that the recent statements of leaders belonging to the ruling NDA targeting Rahul Gandhi were part of a clear conspiracy under the knowledge of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, questioning their silence on the matter.

The opposition also claimed that the government is inciting hatred and violence against the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, terming it a tragedy for Indian democracy.

Addressing a press conference with senior leader Abhishek Singhvi, Congress general secretary K C Venugopal noted that in the last 15 days, they have witnessed a conspiracy against Rahul Gandhi, posing a life threat to him. Venugopal expressed disappointment that PM Modi and Home Minister Shah have not corrected these individuals or asked them to apologize.

Congress president Kharge wrote to PM Modi raising concerns, but despite his letter, Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu made an even more dangerous statement, calling Gandhi the 'number one terrorist'.

Venugopal argued that PM Modi, Home Minister Shah, and the Union government's silence signals complicity. He asserted that the Congress will not be intimidated, mentioning Gandhi's extensive walk of 4,000 km as a testament to their resolve.

Singhvi accused the BJP of panic, pointing to the party's past labeling of Gandhi as anti-national whenever he raised issues like fear-mongering or minority rights.

He challenged BJP members to recall their responses during the enactment of the three black farm laws and alleged that the BJP leadership failed to intervene when their agents abused farmers.

Singhvi emphasized that democratic responses may be delayed but are inevitable, suggesting that the threats against Gandhi will only strengthen him. He reiterated that this incitement of hatred is a tragedy for Indian democracy.

The Congress has filed a police complaint over the incendiary remarks, citing BJP leaders Tarvinder Singh Marwah, Ravneet Singh Bittu, and Raghuraj Singh, as well as Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad.

Ajay Maken, AICC treasurer and general secretary, submitted the complaint seeking FIRs against these leaders.
