BJP incharge of Jammu and Kashmir and Party National General Secretary Tarun Chugh praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the enthusiastic support shown by residents of the Union Territory during his visits. Chugh noted that PM Modi's commitment to development has built immense trust among the people.
Chugh further emphasized the significance of the first phase of the J&K elections, describing it as a testament to PM Modi's vision for development and trust. Once marred by election boycotts, J&K saw large voter turnouts, with a recorded 41.17% turnout by 1 pm. Key districts such as Kishtwar and Doda saw turnouts of 56.86% and 50.81% respectively.
Voting commenced at 7 am across the Union Territory, set to conclude at 6 pm. The first phase includes 24 assembly constituencies, with 16 seats in Kashmir and 8 in Jammu. Subsequent voting phases are scheduled for September 25 and October 1, with vote counting on October 8.
