Shagun Parihar, the BJP candidate from Kishtwar, cast her vote on Wednesday in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, held after a decade-long hiatus. The 29-year-old expressed her confidence in securing the seat, emphasizing her belief that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would achieve a resounding victory and form a government in the region.
Terrorism remains a pivotal election issue, particularly for Shagun, whose father and uncle died in a terrorist attack in 2018. "The Narendra Modi-led government has made significant strides in countering terrorism, which is a personal concern for me as a victim," she stated.
Highlighting youth employment as a major issue, Shagun aims to ensure job opportunities for educated youth. Despite facing a three-cornered contest, she remains optimistic about contributing to BJP's majority government formation. Previously an NC stronghold, Kishtwar will see its future decided by 74,466 voters at 165 polling stations.
