Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Maken on Wednesday approached a police station in the national capital, lodging a complaint against BJP leaders over threats to Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. Maken, in his letter for registering an FIR at the Tughlak Road police station, named Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu, Delhi BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah, Shiv Sena (Shinde) Sanjay Gaikwad, and Uttar Pradesh Minister Raghuraj Singh.

In his complaint, Maken stated that Marwah had threatened Gandhi on September 11 during a BJP event, saying "Rahul Gandhi baaz aaja, nahi toh aane wale time mein tera bhi wohi haal hoga jo teri dadi ka haal hua" (you better behave, or you will meet the same fate as your grandmother), referring to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Maken claimed that this statement was captured on video evidence, which he has attached to the complaint. The letter also named Sanjay Gaikwad, who on September 16 publicly offered a bounty of Rs 11 lakh for anyone who would "cut the tongue" of Gandhi.

The complaint further accused Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu of calling Gandhi the "number one terrorist of the country" during a public statement on September 15, intended to incite violence and breach public peace. Similarly, BJP leader Raghuraj Singh reportedly called Gandhi the "number one terrorist of India" on September 16. Maken argued that these statements undermine Gandhi's safety and disrupt public peace, particularly amid ongoing elections in Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana.

According to Maken, these statements are part of a systematic campaign to incite aggression against Gandhi and the Indian National Congress. He alleged that the leaders used inflammatory language to create unrest and obstruct Gandhi's duties as Leader of the Opposition. Maken requested that an FIR be registered against the named individuals under relevant sections for criminal intimidation and public mischief.

In his letter to the SHO at Tughlak Road Police Station, Maken urged the swift registration of an FIR under sections 351, 352, 353, and 61 of the BNS. Addressing reporters, he stated, "You are making these kinds of remarks 'Aap sambhal jao aap bolo mat nahi toh aapka bhi wahi haal hoga jo aapki dadi ka hua hai' against a person whose father and grandmother sacrificed their lives for the nation. Politics can never stoop to this level...The leader of the BJP neither tried to silence him nor condemn his remarks."

Maken highlighted that a BJP ally leader said, "jo Rahul Gandhi ki zubaan kaat ke laaega usko Rs 11 lakh milenge". He continued, "You don't like his comments because he speaks about minorities, Dalits, backward class, workers, saving the constitution...We will not be afraid of death threats." Maken demanded strict action and the registration of an FIR against the individuals named in his complaint.
