Veteran CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury was honored on Saturday as his body was donated to AIIMS for medical research amidst chants of ''Lal Salaam.''
The day began with tributes at the Communist Party of India (Marxist) headquarters. Party colleagues and leaders from across the political spectrum, including Sonia Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, and Akhilesh Yadav, paid their last respects.
International dignitaries and hundreds of supporters joined a march from AKG Bhavan to Jantar Mantar. Yechury's untimely demise followed a battle with a lung infection, leaving behind a legacy of political activism and academic leadership.
