The Maldives and China have held discussions to fortify their defence cooperation, according to the Maldives' Ministry of Defence.

In a recent post on X, Defence Minister Ghassan Maumoon met with Chinese counterpart Admiral Dong Jun at the 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum to explore these opportunities.

Although specific details were not disclosed, it follows a March agreement for China to provide military equipment and training to the Maldives.
