Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was intensely questioned on Saturday by a probe team over a controversial social media post allegedly targeting the heads of key state institutions.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) initiated a case against Khan on Friday, accusing him of inciting rebellion against the government and state institutions through social media platform X.

The FIA's Cybercrime Wing, spearheaded by Deputy Director Ayaz Khan, conducted a 45-minute inquiry involving technical experts at Adiala Jail. They queried Khan about the post's origins and management of his social media accounts.

The FIA is expected to revisit Khan to further delve into the matter, aiming to uncover who manages his social media accounts and directs such posts.

Khan, aged 71, had previously insisted on cooperating only in the presence of his legal team and had rejected a meeting with the FIA probe team.

Information Minister Atta Tarar stated that the new case centers on the alleged misuse of social media by Khan to create chaos and compromise national security.

Earlier, during a National Assembly session, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari accused Khan of insulting state institutions by implicating the Chief Justice and Army chief in his X post. Bhutto emphasized the need to identify whether Khan or someone else made the post.
