In a recent statement, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump sought to distance himself from far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer. Loomer's presence on the campaign trail had garnered rebukes from both Trump's allies and the White House. However, Trump did not fully disavow her, stating he does not agree with her past statements but appreciates her support.
Trump emphasized that Loomer, who has previously made controversial remarks about the Sept. 11 attacks and Vice President Kamala Harris, does not work for his campaign. Despite this, she traveled on Trump's plane for much of the week.
Loomer, who commands a 1.2 million strong following on X, has faced significant backlash for her comments. White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre and several prominent Republicans criticized her remarks. Loomer defended her position as a dedicated supporter of Trump while denouncing those who criticized her.
