Former Haryana Minister Karan Dev Kamboj Joins Congress After Leaving BJP

Former Haryana minister Karan Dev Kamboj has resigned from BJP and joined Congress after being denied a ticket for the upcoming assembly polls. He joined the party in the presence of prominent Congress leaders and criticized BJP for its treatment towards the OBC community.

Former Haryana minister Karan Dev Kamboj, who recently resigned as OBC Morcha chief of the BJP's state unit after being denied a ticket for the upcoming assembly polls, officially left the saffron party on Friday and joined the Congress.

Kamboj was seeking a ticket from either the Radaur or the Indri constituencies. His decision to join Congress was made in the presence of former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan, the party stated.

Last week, Kamboj expressed his grievances against the BJP for rewarding new entrants and ignoring loyal party workers. At the Congress welcoming event, Hooda accused the BJP of harboring an anti-SC and anti-OBC stance—a claim underlined by Kamboj's departure. Hooda emphasized that Kamboj's support would bolster the Congress, stating they aim to establish an inclusive government that prioritizes development. Bhan echoed this sentiment, asserting that the BJP would face significant defeat across Haryana. Kamboj has condemned the BJP's treatment of the OBC community and claimed that the upcoming elections will witness a unified front from Dalits and backward classes to ensure a Congress victory. Haryana voters will cast their ballots on October 5, with results announced on October 8.
