In a significant diplomatic development, Indonesia's President-elect Prabowo Subianto announced that Indonesia and Vietnam have agreed to elevate their bilateral relations to a "comprehensive strategic partnership". The announcement came during Prabowo's two-day visit to Vietnam.

Addressing the media in Hanoi, Prabowo emphasized the enduring friendship between the two nations. "For us, Vietnam has always been a great friend," he said, as he met with Vietnamese President and party chief To Lam. "We value this relationship and I am committed to enhance and further this cooperation," he added.

Prabowo is set to meet Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Saturday. The strengthened partnership aims at bolstering efforts towards mutual goals and fostering closer ties in various sectors.
