Leaders from BJP and JD(S) on Friday accused the Congress government of 'appeasement politics' following violent clashes during a Ganesh idol immersion procession in Mandya's Nelamangala town. The leaders claimed the violence was 'pre-planned' and criticized the government's response.
The altercations led to mobs targeting shops and vehicles, escalating tensions. JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy and other politicians questioned the government's preparedness and role in preventing the violence. They also criticized Home Minister G Parameshwara for downplaying the severity of the incident.
Kumaraswamy alleged that the additional reserve police were withdrawn just before the violence began. BJP leader Pralhad Joshi echoed these concerns, attributing the violence to 'appeasement politics' and criticizing the government's handling of the situation.
