Mumbai Congress President Varsha Gaikwad welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to grant bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case. Speaking to ANI on the ruling, Gaikwad praised the Aam Aadmi Party chief's resolve, stating he is 'setting an example' through his fight.
The apex court granted bail to Kejriwal, citing prolonged incarceration as an unjust deprivation of liberty. The court's conditions for his release include prohibiting public comments on the case and mandating his presence at all trial court hearings unless exempted. Gaikwad noted that Kejriwal had been jailed for over 156 days and recounted his claims of mistreatment in prison during a meeting earlier this year.
'We welcome the judicial process. He has been granted bail after 156 days. When he came to Mumbai on bail, he spoke about his mistreatment—denial of medicines. But he is fighting and setting an example,' Gaikwad told ANI. AAP celebrated the court's decision as a major victory, with National General Secretary Sandeep Pathak calling it a monumental day for the party and the nation. However, BJP's Gaurav Bhatia mocked Kejriwal as the 'bail wala' CM.
