Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Sharma criticized the Congress party and the INDIA bloc on Friday, accusing them of attempting to divide Indian society for political gain. Sharma claimed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's desperation for power is driving this divisive strategy. He described casteism as a 'poison' hindering the nation's progress.
'The Prime Minister has stated that there are only four castes—youth, farmers, women, and the poor. We must work for the welfare of these groups. I urge the opposition to focus on aiding the deprived within these segments,' Sharma emphasized.
Sharma added, 'Historically, India had the 'Varn' system replaced by a caste system through Mughal and British influence, weakening Indian society. Congress and the INDI Alliance are perpetuating this division. Rahul Gandhi won't succeed in his power grab.' Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi called for a caste census, highlighting that 90% of India's population—OBCs, Dalits, and Adivasis—lack representation, referring to it as the 'elephant in the room.'
