Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife, Sunita Kejriwal, criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday after the Supreme Court granted bail to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor. Sunita Kejriwal alleged that BJP's efforts to imprison opposition leaders to retain power had failed.
Sunita Kejriwal, along with AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, Atishi, and Sanjay Singh, celebrated Arvind Kejriwal's bail by distributing sweets. Earlier, she congratulated the 'AAP family' for their resilience and expressed hope for the release of other jailed AAP leaders.
AAP MP Raghav Chadha thanked the Supreme Court for the decision, stating, 'Arvind Kejriwal is not just a name but a brand of honest politics.' He added that Kejriwal's incarceration was due to his growing popularity and announced that Kejriwal would now lead AAP's campaign for the upcoming Haryana elections.
The Supreme Court granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal in a corruption case linked to the alleged excise policy scam. The court stated that prolonged incarceration amounted to unjust deprivation of liberty. Kejriwal was arrested in March 2024 in connection with a money laundering probe and later by CBI in June 2024.
