India's Supreme Court has granted bail to opposition leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a graft case, setting the stage for his release nearly six months after his arrest.
Kejriwal was initially detained in March by the country's financial crime-fighting agency, mere weeks before the national elections, in connection with alleged irregularities in Delhi's liquor policy.
While Kejriwal secured bail in that case in July, he continued to be held due to an earlier arrest by federal police on similar charges, which he and his Aam Aadmi Party claim are "politically motivated."
