A political storm is brewing in Jharkhand as Leader of Opposition Amar Bauri accuses the JMM-led state government of hiding illegal Bangladeshi immigrants for vote bank politics. The central government, through an affidavit, has highlighted significant demographic changes in the region's population.

According to the affidavit filed before the high court, Bangladeshis have entered Jharkhand via Sahebgunj and Pakur districts. It also points to a noticeable decline in the tribal population due to high conversion rates and a low birth rate. Bauri insists this issue has long been a concern, but the state government denies any infiltration.

Reacting to these allegations, JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya criticized the data's release, labeling it as an attempt to sow communal discord ahead of the elections. Bhattacharya argues that if infiltration exists, the responsibility lies with the Union Home and Defence ministries.
