Republican U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump declared on Thursday that he would eliminate all taxes on overtime pay as part of a broader tax cut package if elected in the Nov. 5 election.

Trump made the announcement during a rally in Tucson, Arizona, stating, "As part of our additional tax cuts, we will end all taxes on overtime. Your overtime hours will be tax free," he asserted.

The former president, who is in a tight race against Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris according to polls, had previously vowed to seek legislation to end the taxation of tips to aid service workers, a pledge Harris has similarly made. Trump also mentioned that he would exert pressure on the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates if re-elected.
