Following the release of its finalized candidate list for the Haryana Assembly election, the Congress confronted internal rebellion on Thursday as several key leaders announced their intention to contest as independents.

Thursday marked the final day for filing nominations for the October 5 election. Senior leaders such as former state minister Sampat Singh from Nalwa, former MLAs Lalit Nagar from Tigaon, and Sharda Rathore from Ballabhgarh have all decided to run independently, having been denied party tickets.

Others joining them include Chitra Sarwara from Ambala Cantonment and Rohita Rewri from Panipat City. The party faces significant resentment from members who feel wronged by the ticket allocations, leading to a turbulent pre-election atmosphere.
