Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday expressed deep sorrow over the death of CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury.

Yechury, aged 72, passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi following a prolonged illness.

Chief Minister Naidu remarked that Yechury was a significant political figure who climbed the ranks to become one of the most respected voices in Indian politics.

"He was renowned for his intellectual perspectives on various issues and his connection with people at the grassroots level. His engaging debates with leaders from across the political spectrum earned him recognition beyond his party," said Naidu in a message on X.

The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, comrades, and followers of the popular left leader.
