The BJP on Wednesday criticized Rahul Gandhi for meeting US lawmaker Ilhan Omar during his visit to the United States, accusing the Congress leader of engaging in 'dangerous and mischievous' activities by reaching out to known anti-India individuals abroad.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, party spokesperson Sudhansu Trivedi emphasized that Gandhi's actions have moved from 'childish' to 'dangerous'. He pointed out that this is the first instance of an Indian opposition leader meeting a declared anti-India lawmaker and expressing positive sentiments.
Trivedi claimed that Gandhi has also sought support from Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, adding to his list of anti-India contacts. He displayed a photo of Gandhi with journalist Mushfiqul Fazal, who is also known for anti-India views. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey echoed these sentiments in a social media post, suggesting Gandhi is backing controversial agendas in America. However, the Congress has dismissed these criticisms.
