BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has asserted his position in the party, emphasizing the importance of grassroots workers over top leaders like Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state unit chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule. Speaking after declining the role of 'communication chief' for the Maharashtra assembly polls, Somaiya criticized the party's decision-making process and highlighted his dedication as an ordinary worker.

In a letter to Raosaheb Danve, head of the party's state election campaign committee, Somaiya called the treatment he received 'insulting' and stressed the need for prior consultation before assigning roles. He recounted his removal from a 2019 joint press conference by Fadnavis, ordered by Uddhav Thackeray.

Somaiya's refusal to accept the party position stirred responses, with state unit chief Bawankule acknowledging Somaiya's seniority but highlighting the party's practice of delegating responsibilities without prior discussions. This incident underscores ongoing internal tensions within the BJP as it prepares for the Maharashtra assembly elections.
