Pope Francis Advocates Inter-faith Dialogue and Climate Action in Singapore Visit
Pope Francis arrived in Singapore, the final stop of a 12-day Southeast Asia and Oceania tour. His visit focuses on inter-faith dialogue and climate change. Highlights include a Mass expected to draw 55,000 participants and meetings with political leaders. This visit continues his longstanding advocacy for social equality and environmental sustainability.
Pope Francis arrived in Singapore on Wednesday afternoon from East Timor. His visit aims to focus on inter-faith dialogue and reinforce the Catholic Church's presence in a region where it is a small minority.
The pope will stay for two nights in the global financial hub, delivering a speech to political authorities and addressing issues such as wealth inequality and climate change. A Mass expected to draw 55,000 people, including Catholics from Hong Kong, is on his agenda.
Francis will also host an inter-religious meeting with young people and hold private meetings with Singapore's top leaders. Singapore's government has major plans for tackling rising sea levels due to global warming, a frequent theme in Francis' talks.
