White House Rebukes GOP Over Haitian Immigrant Falsehoods

The White House has strongly condemned Republicans for disseminating alarming and false narratives about Haitian immigrants. U.S. Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance and other notable Republicans have shared social media posts alleging that Haitians are abducting and eating pets, accusations that the White House has labeled racially charged and deeply divisive.

White House national security spokesperson John Kirby emphasized the perilous nature of such disinformation, noting, "This kind of language is dangerous because there will be people that believe it, no matter how ludicrous and stupid it is, and they might act on that kind of information and act on it in a way where somebody could get hurt. So it needs to stop."

JD Vance, along with other Republicans like Senator Ted Cruz and billionaire Elon Musk, has propagated this false narrative despite local police confirming no reports of pet thefts involving Haitian immigrants. The rumors began in a Springfield Facebook group and have since been debunked, yet Vance and his supporters continue to defend their claims.
