A group of Congress leaders has written to Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, urging him to caution party leaders and state Ministers interested in the Chief Minister's post ahead of any potential leadership change in Karnataka.
The letter's signatories, comprising current and former lawmakers and ex-Ministers, asked Gandhi to prevent damaging statements from being made by his colleagues. They believe these actions harm the Congress party and the state of Karnataka.
With Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's petition against the Governor's sanction for his prosecution in the MUDA site allotment case being heard in the High Court, many Congress leaders are vying for his role. More than six leaders, including senior Ministers, have openly claimed the position, which has caused demoralization among party members and the electorate.
