External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has reiterated India's stance on resolving the Ukraine conflict through negotiation rather than battlefield confrontations. Speaking at the Annual Ambassadors' Conference in Berlin, Jaishankar emphasized the need for Russia and Ukraine to engage in direct talks, with India ready to provide its advisory support if needed.
The minister's comments came after his recent discussions with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and amid President Putin's acknowledgment of India's efforts to mediate. Jaishankar also highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's consistent message during visits to Moscow and Kyiv, reinforcing that this is not an era of war and urging both parties to seek peaceful resolutions.
In addition to the Ukraine conflict, Jaishankar discussed India's active role in the Quad, strategic economic relations with China, and the nation's significant economic developments. He stressed the importance of international cooperation in innovation, technology, and clean energy, asserting that these partnerships are crucial for addressing global challenges.
