Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Tuesday targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, calling her the most dangerous politician who desires to stay in power at any cost, even by potentially compromising the nation's interest. He also lambasted her over the murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, accusing her of lacking emotions and sensitivity towards women.

"Mamata Banerjee is the most dangerous politician today who wants to stay in power even by selling out the country. She has no emotions, she has no sensitivity towards women," Singh said. The brutal rape and murder of a trainee woman doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College has sparked widespread protests both in West Bengal and nationwide. The victim was discovered dead in the college's seminar hall on August 9.

The tragic incident has led to a heated exchange between the BJP and the state government, with the BJP calling for Mamata Banerjee's resignation. On Monday, the Supreme Court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit a fresh status report by next week regarding the murder and rape case.

On the same day, the deceased doctor's mother accused Mamata Banerjee of lying about financial compensation. "The Chief Minister is lying. My daughter will not return. Would I lie in her name? The Chief Minister told us we would receive money and suggested creating something in our daughter's memory. I replied that I would go to her office to collect the money once my daughter gets justice," the victim's mother told ANI.

Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer at RG Kar Medical College, has been arrested in connection with the incident. Additionally, on September 2, the CBI's Anti-Corruption Branch arrested Dr. Sandip Ghosh, a former principal of the college, along with three others, on charges of corruption and financial misconduct at the institution.

Dr. Ghosh has been remanded to eight days of police custody, with the next hearing scheduled for September 10. (ANI)
