Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has stated that the outcomes of the recent general elections in India have dismantled the 'idea of Modi' and eliminated the fear associated with the Prime Minister. He commented during a four-day visit to the U.S., where he addressed Georgetown University and other events.
Gandhi emphasized that the Lok Sabha elections were not conducted on a level playing field and claimed that the ruling BJP coalition has collapsed. He added that despite Prime Minister Modi forming a government for a third consecutive term, the BJP did not achieve a majority on its own, and Modi's once-feared image has now dissipated.
The Congress leader further alleged that the elections were heavily controlled and not free. He noted the significant financial advantage of the BJP and criticized the Election Commission for its alleged bias. According to Gandhi, the Congress party's restricted access to funds contributed to the downfall of the Modi-led perception. During his U.S. visit, Gandhi also engaged with Indian diaspora and U.S. officials.
