BJP MLAs have formally requested President Droupadi Murmu to dismiss the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over alleged constitutional violations. The plea, encapsulated in a memorandum, has now been directed to the Ministry of Home Affairs for further action, according to Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta.
Gupta elaborated that Delhi's failure to establish the 6th Delhi Finance Commission and inaction on the CAG report are clear violations of the Constitution. He described the situation as a 'constitutional crisis' resulting from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's imprisonment for serious corruption charges.
The president, acknowledging the memorandum, forwarded it to the home secretary for appropriate attention. Gupta emphasized the urgency, citing a complete breakdown of governance in Delhi due to the chief minister's refusal to resign and extended judicial custody since March 21.
