A senior Ukrainian official has called on Western allies to permit Ukraine to utilize provided weapons to target military warehouses inside Russia. This demand stems from suspicions that Iran has supplied ballistic missiles to Russia for its ongoing war efforts.
Over the weekend, sources informed The Associated Press that the United States believes Iran has sent short-range ballistic missiles to Russia. This claim has caused concern among Western countries backing Ukraine, as they fear such actions could escalate Europe's largest conflict since World War II. However, Ukrainian presidential office head Andrii Yermak argued that allowing defensive strikes is a necessity, not an escalation.
Russia has been hitting Ukraine with long-range missile and drone attacks, killing over 10,000 civilians and crippling electricity production since February 2022, according to the United Nations. Meanwhile, Ukraine continues its resistance, recently making incursions into Russia's Kursk region and combating Russian advances in Donetsk. The situation remains tense with accusations, denials, and international warnings adding to the complexity of the war.
