In a strategic political move, the Apni Party, led by president Altaf Bukhari, announced its support for former Jammu and Kashmir minister Taj Mohiuddin. The latter is an independent candidate vying for the Uri assembly segment in Baramulla district.

Making the announcement at a press conference, Bukhari emphasized that the decision was taken to prioritize the welfare of the constituents in the Uri segment.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections are pending with three phases from September 18 to October 1, and the results will be declared on October 8.
