Former Assam Congress chief Ripun Bora has made a significant return to the grand old party, following his resignation from the Trinamool Congress presidency. Bora was welcomed back by AICC general secretary Jitendra Singh during an Extended Executive Committee meeting held in Charaideo.

Key figures at the event included state Congress president Bhupen Kumar Borah and Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia. Singh described Bora's return as a 'ghar wapsi' and asserted that Congress runs in his DNA, highlighting Bora's unconditional rejoining.

Ripun Bora, expressing his commitment to Congress, pointed out the necessity of uprooting the BJP, claiming that remaining with TMC would only split the opposition vote. His return aims to bolster Congress efforts against BJP's rule, and several TMC officials also switched allegiance along with him.
