Aditya Devi Lal, the grandson of former deputy prime minister Devi Lal, officially joined the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) on Sunday. He will be running for the upcoming Haryana Assembly polls from the Dabwali constituency on October 5.
Devi Lal, 46, became part of INLD during a rally held in Chautala village within the Sirsa district, in the esteemed presence of senior party leader Abhay Singh Chautala. His decision to join INLD led him to resign recently as Chairman of the Haryana Marketing Board.
Aditya Devi Lal is the second member of the Devi Lal family to leave BJP within a week, following the footsteps of state's Energy and Jails Minister Ranjit Chautala, 79, who also exited the ruling party. The departure of Devi Lal may significantly impact BJP's influence in Sirsa district ahead of the elections.
