During an election rally in Ramban constituency, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh urged residents of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to join India, claiming they are considered 'our own' unlike in Pakistan where they are treated as foreigners.
Slamming the National Conference-Congress alliance's promise to restore Article 370, he asserted that it is unfeasible as long as the BJP remains in power. He emphasized the 'sea change' in Jammu and Kashmir's security post the August 2019 abrogation, noting youths now opt for laptops over weapons.
Singh rallied voters for BJP, promising immense development that would entice PoK residents to prefer India over Pakistan. His campaign in J-K follows Home Minister Amit Shah's recent visit and frames the BJP's election drive opposing strong local and rival party candidates.
