Northern Railway has started the process of accepting the resignations of wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia, railway sources reported on Sunday. Both athletes are expected to be relieved 'as early as possible.'
Phogat and Punia recently joined the Congress party, with Phogat receiving a ticket to contest the Julana assembly constituency election in Haryana.
'The mandatory three-month notice period for resigning railway employees will be waived in their cases,' a senior railway official told PTI. This allows for an expedited resignation process, facilitating Phogat's election candidacy, as confirmed by a Northern Railway official.
