Thousands of people across five districts of Imphal Valley on Friday participated in a series of human chain rallies to protest recent drone and gun attacks in Manipur. These attacks resulted in two civilian deaths and 12 injuries.

Participants voiced their dissatisfaction with the government's handling of the ongoing conflict in the state. The rally, organized by the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), saw school and college students in uniform, alongside women from various localities, lining up along the roadsides in Thoubal Bazar, Lilong Chajing in Thoubal district, and Sekmai, Kwakeithel, Singjamei in Imphal West district, raising slogans condemning the recent attacks in Koutruk and Senjam Chirang.

Protest placards displayed messages like 'Drone bombing is an act of terrorism,' 'We condemn Manipur government's timidity,' and 'Take action against Kuki terrorists.' Youth leader P Herojit Singh from Khurai in Imphal East district told reporters that the drone and gun attacks were unprovoked, targeted local villagers, and called for strong condemnation and action from the central government. During the protest, major markets shut down, and vehicles stayed off the roads.
