Responding to a firing incident at Badlapur railway station, where a man opened fire on two others, Maharashtra Assembly's Leader of Opposition, Vijay Wadettiwar, has raised questions about the state's law and order situation. Wadettiwar accused Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis of being preoccupied with politics.
Speaking to ANI, Wadettiwar said, 'In the last six months, Maharashtra has reported 242 incidents of street crimes, including stabbings, strangulations, vehicular assaults, and shootings. The law and order situation in Maharashtra has completely deteriorated. What is the Maharashtra Home Minister doing? He should not be so busy with politics.'
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey also criticized the Mahayuti government, claiming it prioritizes political maneuvers over citizens' welfare. Dubey said, 'Yesterday, a firing incident took place in Badlapur, inciting public unrest. The law and order have completely collapsed in Maharashtra. Where is Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis? The government is busy playing politics, contesting elections, forming alliances, and breaking parties.'
Dubey added, 'Our railway stations, bus stands, and public areas are not safe, with crimes occurring regularly. Will the government focus on law and order? Did you form the government for the people's welfare or to create trouble?'
The shooting incident at Badlapur on Thursday around 6 p.m. caused a tense atmosphere when a young man opened fire on two people, injuring one. The shooter has been arrested, with preliminary information indicating that the incident stemmed from a monetary dispute. (ANI)
