In a significant political development, former Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Rajendra Pal Gautam has switched allegiances by joining the Congress party. The formal induction took place at the AICC headquarters on Friday, with senior Congress leaders including General Secretary KC Venugopal and Delhi Chief Devender Yadav in attendance.

At the press conference following his induction, Venugopal hailed the momentous occasion, stating, "It's a proud moment for us as Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam joins the Congress party." He attributed Gautam's decision to the widespread acceptance of Congress' recent initiatives like the Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

Gautam, who resigned from his ministerial post in AAP in October 2022 amid controversy over remarks against Hindu deities, expressed his commitment to social justice in a Hindi post on social media. His switch to Congress is poised to influence the political dynamics ahead of the crucial Delhi Assembly elections slated for early next year.
